An update from Meena's foster mom:
"I have to tell you this little story.
Meena has been in my back bedroom for more than two weeks.
She moves around in there, but when anyone goes in the room she hides -- usually under the quilt as it overhangs the bed.
I can reach in and give her pets and skritches, but she doesn't respond.
If I leave the door open, she hides -- probably from the other cats.
I've been going in there to meditate every morning, but I don't get any response from her.
Last night I thought I'd try a new tactic, so I grabbed the book of Stuart MacLean's stories that I have from the library, went into the room, closed the door, sat in
the chair, and started to read out loud.
After a couple of pages, I saw her head peek out from under the quilt, then draw back in.
After a couple more, she came out and circled the room, stretched, checked her food bowl, and rubbed her head against my foot.
As I turned the next page, she jumped up on the bed beside me and rubbed against my hand, then rolled over on her back for a tummy rub.
She grasped my hand and held it.
I'd stopped reading by this time, and we had a few minutes of getting to know each other better."
Apparently, Meena has excellent taste in literature!!
Meena would prefer a quiet home with no young children or dogs...
