Garland was turned into a shelter north of the city as a stray.
When his Abbey Cats foster parent opened the door of his carrier, she exclaimed, "A lion!"
His orangey-brown medium fur really did look like a mane as he casually strolled into his new [temporary] home.
He immediately posed in leonine pride for a photograph.
Garland is very calm and self-assured, and loves to be stroked and brushed and told how handsome he is.
He's comfortable with other cats, but so far seems to be independent and would probably enjoy being the sole focus of human attention.
Although he may change as he settles into his foster home, Garland seems quite happy on his own and hasn't made any attempt to socialize with the other cats who live there.
However, he got on well with the other cats in his northern shelter.
He's very calm and co-operative, and will do well in any home.
