Aster came to Abbey Cats as one of the kittens from an overcrowded shelter north of Toronto.
He came to us with 3 other kittens, and we suspect Fern is his sister as they were found in the same place, are the same size and are bonded.
Aster is timid.
When he first got to his foster home he was hissy and scared, he wouldn't come out of the carrier.
He is coming out of his shell little by little, everyday there is improvement. Now he comes out to play with his foster mom and the other kittens.
He is less scared of human touch and briefly stepped on her lap once... they are still patiently working on his fears.
Aster loves yarn balls, wand toys with feathers, but most of all, playing with his sister Fern.
His foster mom can spend hours just watching them play together, he runs super fast and makes the cutest trilling sound.
The foster home consists of foster mom, her husband and their cat Maki (4 years old).
Due to Covid they are home all the time and are able to provide the kittens with a structured schedule that consists of food, play and snuggle time.
Aster is timid cat so he'll need a patient and loving home, willing to keep working with him on overcoming his fears.
He gets along well with the other kittens, but is fearful of the resident adult cat.
We don't think a home with little kids would be a good fit for him right now. A quiet home and patient parents would be best.
Aster and Fern are very close and reliant on one another and as such need to be adopted together.
Please bear in mind that it is against Abbey Cat policy to adopt a single kitten under the age of 6 months to a home without a kitten of similar age for company. Any kittens over 6 months may need the company of another young cat.
