Bessie and her sister Miley, came to Abbey Cats via another rescue organization in northern Ontario.
They were found together in someone's backyard at approximately 11 weeks of age.
Initially they stayed with that family who was hoping to help them find a home, but eventually they were surrendered to another rescue organization.
After about 6 months in a foster home, these two sweet ladies still hadn't found their forever family, and headed south to the GTA to try their luck with Abbey Cats.
Bessie is an always sweet, never chatty, clever, cuddly sweetheart.
She is affectionate, but respects boundaries, and loves scratches above her tail (but not as enthusiastically as her sister).
Bessie is quite small and although she isn't fully grown yet, she isn't expected to get much bigger than this.
Don't let her formal tuxedo fool you, she is extremely approachable and down to earth.
Bessie and Miley are both very clever, they enjoy building blanket forts together and cuddling with each other in them.
When they first arrived at their current foster home, their foster mom didn't know about their propensity for making blanket forts, and panicked when she couldn't find them.
Boy, was she ever surprised when she realized they had pulled their favourite blanket over the bedframe so they could camp out under it!
Bessie is slightly shy when approaching humans at first; but once she is comfortable, both girls don't hesitate to come snuggle with calm humans.
They are currently living in a foster home with three women and one, cat-savvy 8-year-old, as well as 3 family cats, and two dogs.
They both get along great with all of the humans and animals, and often sneak into the 8-year-old's room at night for sleep snuggs.
Bessie and Miley don't know their names, but they do come running if they smell an open tube of kitty meat goop.
They both have a tendency to startle with loud noises and run for cover (in their blanket fort), so although they would really enjoy living with a respectful, small human, their forever home will need to be a non-yelly one.
They don't need very much space to roam around, but they do enjoy sitting at the window and spying on the neighbours.
Neither kitty has shown any interest in actually going outside, and would much rather remain the deputized neighborhood watch committee or just be cuddled up on the couch with their people.
Bessie MUST be adopted with her sister Miley.
