Hamish

Hamish is the kind of classic cat that is revered in art and folklore.
Those long legs, the classic tabby pattern, those sleek, slinky movements.
And, of course, the slightly aloof, look-but-don’t-touch, worship-me-from-afar attitude that only great beauties like Hamish can pull off.
It’s not hard to imagine him adorned in gold and jewels and worshiped as an Egyptian cat deity.

But if you’re patient and you bring daily offerings of food, and you sit by him like a good worshipper should, you may be rewarded every so often with a little love session.
But just a little one.
For now, Hamish prefers the company of other cat deities like his brother, Hector, over human company.

But even a cat deity can learn a thing or two, and watching his brother Hector get love and pets and interacting with humans has shown Hamish that maybe humans are worthy of him, after all.
But he’s not entirely convinced so Hamish will need to be adopted with his brother Hector and he’ll need a home that understands his need for patience and for taking things slow.

Winning over the trust of a cat deity like Hamish is deeply rewarding.

Hamish is very reserved and takes a long time (compared to his siblings) to explore and to accept human closeness or contact.
He absolutely needs another (somewhat) confident cat to help show him that humans and exploring are ok.

We don’t think he would have made the progress he’s made to date if it were not for his siblings.
He occasionally accepts pets but doesn’t really seem to care for them.

Hard to tell if that’s fear or preference.
He gets along great with his siblings and loves to play but will easily concede a toy to a sibling.

Hamish needs to be adopted with Hector

Please bear in mind that it is against Abbey Cat policy to adopt a single kitten under the age of 6 months to a home without a kitten of similar age for company.
Any kittens over 6 months may need the company of another young cat.
