Max was surrendered by a family that could not keep him when he was diagnosed with ringworm. Ringworm is a fungus and easily treatable. It is not a parasite or a worm and does not grow on its own like mold. Ringworm gets a bad rap as it is highly contagious to pets and humans but all the snuggles in the world have not given the fungus to his foster parents! More importantly it is very easily treated in humans and often self heals in cats after 4 months. Max has finished 5 weeks of treatment for ringworm. This involved oral medication and weekly baths - after which he loves to be wrapped up in his towel and cuddled. He has tested positive again and we are trying to understand if this is contamination (he is just carrying it) or infection.

Max is a ball of energy and curiosity - everything is interesting and a game - from dripping taps, to wands and balls, as well as his favorite stuffed toy which he carries proudly around the house. Max loves companionship and will play near his fosters while they are working and makes the occasional surprise appearance in video conference meetings. He loves to snuggle and kneads and licks arms and legs (and anything he can reach) to show affection. He loves to sleep on laps and chests and be near to people.

Max needs and loves company. He needs another young cat or kitten to play and wrestle with. He needs owners who are at home with laps to snuggle on.

This cat needs to be adopted with a cat in the program or have another cat at home with similar energy levels.
