Stayner was rescued at just under 3 months old with his sister (Eugene). From what is known, he has had little to no contact with humans while living outside.
Stayner is a shy and timid kitten. When he first arrived at his foster home, he would hiss every time he saw anyone but never showed any other form of aggression. After a while, he would scurry around when being pet or picked up but the hissing stopped. If he's in 'spleepy kitten' mode, you can get right up close to him and even kiss him on the head - he loves under the chin scratches the most! Even though he still isn't the most trusting of humans, he is ALWAYS close by and hanging around. He is constantly following his foster mom around the apartment. He coos and puurs as he lays belly up everywhere he can. Side note: Stayner is extremely food motivated, so it's how we've been helping him become more social. Stayner is slowly learning to trust humans. He is showing signs of being a truly loving kitten and with the right person and some patience, it is truly believed that he will come out of his timid shell.
Stayner is an all black kitty with just a sliver of white across the back of his right toes. We call him and his sister our little panthers! Stayner loves his scratching posts, all the crinkly toys and chasing his foster brothers (Stayner and his sister is currently being fostered with 2 other kittens and they get along very well).
Stayner needs to go to a home that has another playful and social kitten as they can really help bring him out of his shell - this is super important. He currently lives in an apartment with 2 adults. Stayner would not be good with children or a dog as it may be a bit over stimulating for him. He needs a mature home with someone that has experience with cats and knows that he will require patience.
This cat needs to be adopted with a cat in the program or have another cat at home.
Stayner and Smudge are in the same foster home and although not siblings would like to be adopted together.
